HOW SAFE IS YOUR CHILD’S CAR SEAT?

Free cars seats and safety checks available January 20

Martin County, FL – The Florida Department of Health in Martin County is proud to partner with the Martin County Tax Collector, Stuart Fire Rescue, the Stuart Police Department and Safe Kids St Lucie to offer free car seats and car seat inspections for Martin County families in need.

The car seat event is scheduled for Saturday, January 20. The time will be 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Stuart Fire Rescue Complex at 800 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The goal of the event is prevent injuries. This will be done by teaching parents and caregivers how to safely transport children and properly install child safety seats.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), motor vehicle injuries are a leading cause of death among children in the United States. The CDC recommends that parents understand the risk factors. Then, they ensure that they are using the right car seat for their child and that it is properly installed. More information about car seat safety can be found at www.cdc.gov

Car seats will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis and quantities are limited.
