THE HONEST BROKER: LESSONS LEARNED AS WE OPEN FLORIDA FOR BUSINESS

THE HONEST BROKER: LESSONS LEARNED AS WE OPEN FLORIDA FOR BUSINESS

As we begin to reopen our state for business during this recovery period of the pandemic,

I would like to share with you ways for us all to do it while keeping safe and healthy.

I was blessed and fortunate enough to hold a license as a registered nurse prior to starting a second career in real estate.  I was a clinical educator at the university and hospital level for many years.  Keeping ourselves, our clients and patrons healthy will be easy if we all follow some truly simple steps for this virus, and all other viruses (the seasonal flu, colds) that are always around us.

Step 1

DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE.

We all learned how many times in a day we touch our face when we are outside the safety of our homes.  It became very evident that this was actually the hardest habit to break. It truly seemed that our face, eyes, nose etc. only itched when we weren’t allowed to scratch it. Germs are on surfaces that we touch and the most assured way for us to get sick is when they are transferred to our face.

Step 2

WASH YOUR HANDS w/ soap and warm water for 20 seconds.

The task of washing your hands after touching exterior surfaces (handrails, elevator buttons, door handles), or being in stores, etc. is important to keep germs from entering our bodies as well.  Think twice about eating in the car if there is no sanitizer or cleanser around.  Twenty seconds may seem like a long time, but it really isn’t. Try and keep a small bottle of sanitizer in your pocket, purse or car for those times that you can’t wash your hands right away and your “face itch” is driving you crazy.

Step 3

WEAR A MASK.

For years I have complained about sitting close to people who were behind me coughing or sneezing in the movie theater, plane, or other confined spaces with nowhere to go.  COVID-19 has made us aware of the need to wear masks to protect ourselves as well as others.  When this is all over, I will always have a cloth mask with me….just in case.

Step 4

As a business owner, we owe it to our clients to provide a safe environment for them to come back to. By disinfecting our stores/businesses, restrooms, and countertops we are showing them that we care and we want them to remain healthy. Doing this as a community will get us through all the phases of the recovery process until COVID-19 is just a memory.

Stay well and stay healthy……
