About Hobe Sound Beach

Nestled nicely in between Stuart and Jupiter along the Atlantic Coast you’ll find Hobe Sound Beach. Known for its pristine beaches and limestone formations, this family-friendly spot is equipped with many amenities like free parking, restrooms, picnic tables, pavilions, a lifeguard station, and showers. There are even designated areas for off-leash walks with your canine family members.

Professional lifeguards are on duty during day hours so you can enjoy the clear turquoise waters in the designated swimming areas. These areas are designed so swimmers aren’t disturbed by watercraft and surfers.

Apart from swimming, the other areas of the beach allow for plenty of water activities, depending on the Hobe Sound Beach conditions. There’s access for boating like kayaking, sailboarding, and kiteboarding. The beach goes on for miles for long walks and it’s a popular nesting ground for sea turtles.

This area was originally inhabited by the Ais Indians, who named the area after the abundant turtles, “hobe”. It’s transformed over the centuries from a hub for agriculture (pineapple and tomato) into a popular tourist attraction drawing wealthy patrons like Ernest Hemingway in the 1900s. Hemingway enjoyed the serene natural beauty of the area.

Watch the Hobe Sound Beach cam in the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge and catch some of the many species of wildlife that call Hobe Sound home like sea turtles and manatees. The refuge spans over 1,000 acres that cover part of a barrier island beach and 300 acres of sand pine scrub habitat.

The Elizabeth W. Kirby Interpretive Center provides exhibits on local ecosystems. Live animal displays promote the understanding and conservation efforts of the area’s immense natural heritage. Hey

Hobe Sound is set a short drive from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, or Orlando. The area is full of beaches to visit including Jupiter Beach Park, Blowing Rocks Preserve, Juno Beach Park, and St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park Beach.
