Help Port St. Lucie ‘plan 2 prosper’

at 2022 Citizen Summit events

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – The City of Port St. Lucie envisions to be a “Safe, Beautiful and Prosperous City for All People – Your Hometown.” Port St. Lucie residents are invited to learn more about the City’s Strategic Plan for reaching that vision and provide their input and ideas at its annual Citizen Summit.
To include as much citizen feedback as possible, the City is planning two events this year, one virtually Feb. 3 and one in in-person Feb. 5. This year’s theme is Plan 2 Proper.
The Citizen Summit is an annual event that allows residents to receive in-depth information about the City’s Strategic Plan and to provide input on the plan’s seven goals. Summit events are not your typical meetings. The goal is to make it easy, and even fun, for residents to drop in and give feedback and connect with their city. Residents of all ages are encouraged to participate. City Council uses feedback received during the Citizen Summit when it updates the City’s long-term goals.
“The City of Port St. Lucie has a strategic plan to bring the City towards to a more prosperous future,” said Kate Parmelee, Director of Strategic Initiatives & Innovation. “Each year, our planning process begins with listening to the input and ideas of Port St. Lucie residents. Through this process, residents can truly help shape the future of their City.”
Residents who wish to provide feedback in a virtual setting can participate in the Virtual Citizen Summit on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m., via Zoom. Residents can learn about the progress of the Strategic Plan, provide feedback and get answers to questions in an informative, interactive format. There will be opportunities for prizes throughout the event, while supplies last. Registration is required. This special event also will be streamed live on the City’s Facebook page, @cityofpsl, and on Comcast Channel 20, U-verse channel 99, Blue Stream fiber channel 20.
Those who want to provide feedback in person can join City staff at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center on Saturday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon and provide feedback via the Citizen Summit Exploration Trail. As residents stroll along the sidewalk, they will learn about current and future projects in this year’s Strategic Plan with posted signs along the path and speak to staff at booths along the trail. Attendees will be given a roadmap corresponding to the City’s Strategic Goals, which they can use to write down ideas about where they think taxpayer dollars should be spent. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide giveaways, while supplies last, to all who fill out their roadmap.
Residents are welcome to attend both events! Those who participate and give feedback at the virtual summit or the in-person event will receive a unique 2022-23 City of Port St. Lucie wall calendar to help you plan a prosperous year, too! Learn more at www.CityofPSL.com/CitizenSummit
Another opportunity for residents to share their feedback is by taking the National Community Survey TM (NCS). The National Research Center has begun to mail these important surveys to a statistically valid sample of residents. If you receive one in the mail, City leaders request you take the time to fill out the survey and return it. For those who do not receive a mail-in survey, the NRC will make an online option available to all residents at www.CityofPSL.com from Jan. 25- Feb. 8. Learn more at www.CityofPSL.com/CommunitySurvey. The information gathered from the survey and the annual Citizen Summit is an important part of City Council’s strategic planning process and helps identify budget priorities.
