Fort Pierce police detectives have arrested the gunman who shot a customer at a smoothie shop Sunday afternoon.
Just before 3:30 p.m. September 13, a customer in the Tropical Smoothie Cafe at 5212 Okeechobee Road began complaining about the length of time it was taking for his food. The 39-year-old man ordered a sandwich that had been discontinued on the menu, and as the staff was scrambling to appease the customer, he continued his rant when the gunman, wearing a black hoodie, black shorts and a black mask coincidentally appeared in the shop and confronted the agitated customer, shooting him in the face.
Detectives vigorously worked the case and late Monday evening developed information that identified Antonio Brown, 17, as the suspect. Brown was located late Monday night and taken to police headquarters after 11 p.m. where he was interviewed. He was subsequently transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and has been charged with felony attempted murder.
The victim was upgraded to good condition at the hospital Monday and is expected to recover.
