FPPD offer safety tips for New Years! Please read!

Ft. Pierce, Fl-  This has been a dangerous holiday season on the roadways, with 16 fatalities in our area in crashes between Thanksgiving and December 26th. That’s the most since the data started to be collected in 2011, and nearly twice the monthly average for 2018.

The Fort Pierce Police Department would like to offer some safety tips to help you safely get to and back from those holiday events.

  • Allow for extra time to safely get to your location and research the route to the venue if it is not familiar to you.
  • Avoid drinking too much alcohol. Have a designated driver or plans to use a ride service if you plan on drinking.

Stay aware of your surroundings when participating at public events especially at events where large crowds may be present.

When participating at events at public venues, avoid wearing excessive jewelry and carrying too many valuables.

Parents, please ensure your children are supervised if they go to parties or public events with you. Also ensure you know where your children will be if they go to parties without you.
