Former teacher sentenced for solicitation

A former St. Lucie West Centennial High School teacher was sentenced in federal court Friday for the solicitation and exchange of explicit photos with a 17-year-old.

30-year-old Daniel Tyler Morgan of Jupiter was sentenced to 60 months in prison for attempting to receive explicit images of a child.

In addition, the sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release.

Morgan was a history teacher at St. Lucie West Centennial High School. He began communicating with a minor student he had taught in the previous year. Furthermore he developed an online relationship with the minor.  The two began exchanging sexually explicit photographs. Also, Morgan also attempted to get the minor to smoke marijuana with him. Morgan is no longer employed at the school.

The original story broke in May 2916 when it was reported he sent a photo of his genital to a minor on snapchat. Morgan allegedly told officers he had been drinking heavily and did not even remember what he did.
