Focus on Family Time at the St. Lucie County Libraries

LUCIE COUNTY – From toddlers to teens, St. Lucie County Libraries continue to offer a variety of programs to keep families engaged this March.

Movie for Kids: Disney’s “Encanto” on Saturday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kilmer Branch and Wednesday, March 16 at 3 p.m. at the Kilmer Branch. A young Colombian girl has to face the frustration of being the only member of her family without magical powers. However, she soon may be the Madrigals’ last hope when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is now in danger. This animated feature is rated PG with a running time of 109 minutes.
S.T.E.A.M. Power! Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art & math in a storytime. Most suited for students kindergarten through 5^th grade.

S.T.E.A.M. Storytime at the Kilmer Branch on Friday, March 11 and March 25 at 10:30 a.m. Explore the world of science, technology, engineering, art and math in a storytime. Most suited for ages 3-6.
Diamond Dotz Stickers on Friday, March 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. Come in and make your own Diamond Dotz stickers. Enjoy your sparkling masterpieces. Most suited for ages 5-10. All supplies provided.
Movies for Kids: “Raya and the Last Dragon” on Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. In this 2021 Disney release, Kumandra is a place where humans and dragons peacefully coexist. When sinister monsters threaten the community, it is up to Raya, a lone warrior, to stop them once and for all. This animated feature is rated PG with a running time of 114 minutes.
Movies for Kids: “The Addams Family 2” on Wednesday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at the Hurston Branch. The Addams crew hits the road for a family vacation to remember in this fun-filled animated sequel. They get tangled up in more wacky adventures and find themselves involved in hilarious run-ins with all sorts of unsuspecting characters. All ages welcome. The movie is rated PG with a running time of 93 minutes.
Soda Pop Dough on Thursday, March 17 at 3 p.m. at the Kilmer Branch. Experiment with different kinds of soda to make homemade playdough and answer some scientific questions, including how does the flavor of soda affect the dough? Any dough you make you can take, and any leftover soda, you can drink. All supplies provided. Most suited for grades 4 – 8.
What’s up my Zoob? on Friday, March 18 at 3 p.m. at the Hurston Branch. Get creative building with Zoobs. You can actually design a toy to play with, instead of just building something to look at. Most suited for students kindergarten to 5^th grade.
Spring Break Crafternoon on Friday, March 18 at 3 p.m. at Kilmer Branch. Celebrate spring break with crafts of all kinds. Keep boredom at bay with these make and take crafts. All supplies provided. Most suited for students kindergarten to 5^th grade.
National Crayon Day on Thursday, March 31 at 5 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Join us for a color-infused storytime, crayon activities and coloring. Most suited for families with children of all ages.

Grab n’ Go Project: A different fun craft every month. Best suited for ages 5-10. All materials supplied.
Color Your World: Stop by the library and pick up some coloring pages. All ages welcome.
Dr. Seuss Indoor Scavenger Hunt: Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday month with a Seuss inspired scavenger hunt. All ages welcome.

Tweens and Teens:

Tween Techies on Tuesday, March 1 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. Join us for some robot fun with coding technology. Check out stations with Dash, Ozobots and more. Best suited for ages 8 through 12.
Early Release Day Teen Craft: Paracord Bracelets on Friday, March 11 at 3 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Paracord bracelets: They’re a cool accessory and a survival tool. Learn how to make your own with us. This program is best suited for youth in grades 5 through 9.
Young Teen Time on Saturday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Discover the secrets of Pi, that mysterious irrational number. We will be doing fun math things like Pi coding bracelets and graphing pi-line skylines.
Super Smash Bros. Gaming Tournament on Switch on Saturday, March 26 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Lewis Branch. Test your skills against other players in a Super Smash Bros. contest. Who will be victorious? Best suited for ages 11 through 18.

Teen Walk-In Programs at the Lakewood Park Branch:

Tween Tech Challenge: A chance to test your skills with computers and technology. Self-guided, the challenge takes about an hour and can be done at your leisure
Boggle Fun: Stop by and play the word game Boggle with us. How many words can you get? Best suited for tweens/teens.

Just Baby & Me on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at the Lewis Branch and Thursdays at the Lakewood Park Branch. Songs, stories and movement – fun for you and your baby. For infants up to 2 1/2 years.
Rhythm & Rhyme on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at the Morningside Branch. Early literacy through rhymes, stories, movement and more. For ages 2 1/2 years and older.
Storytime Jam – Reading & Rhythm at 10:30 a.m. – Clap, dance and listen to stories. For ages 3 to 5.
