FHP investigating fatal accident on Hutchinson Island
Fort Pierce, Fl (treasurecoast.com) – The Florida Highway Patrol has reported they are investigating a fatal accident on Hutchinson Island.

Location: Southbound A1A, 3 miles south of Clipper Blvd., St. Lucie, Florida
A1A is currently closed while the investigation is being conducted.
Vehicle 1 – Bicycle
Vehicle 2 – 2020 Freightliner Truck with 53’ Trailer
Persons involved:
Driver of Vehicle 1 (D-1) – Male, NO CURRENT ID
Driver of Vehicle 2 (D-2) – Male, 33 YOA; Ft. Pierce, Florida; No injuries
V-1 (Pedal cyclist) was traveling northbound on a concrete sidewalk adjacent to northbound A1A. V-2 (Tractor Trailer) was southbound on A1A. For unknown reasons, V-1 exited the sidewalk and attempted to cross the northbound and southbound lanes of A1A. The left rear tandem tires of V-2 collided with V-1. V-1 came to final rest in the northbound lane of A1A. V-2 came to a controlled stop on the east shoulder of A1A.
Pedal cyclist was pronounced deceased on scene. This is an ongoing investigation.
