This is what happened according to the Fellsmere Police:
Not every crime drama has a happy ending, but this one does…
During the early morning hours of darkness today, an unknown suspect forced their way in to “Big C’s Produce located at 81 N. Broadway Street and took approximately $146 from the cash register. The suspect used a potted plant sitting outside the business as their door key of choice.

We posted several images of the suspect on this Facebook page earlier today to see what help we could get from the community, but officers suspected early on that the suspect was Dustin Cruce, age 34 of Fellsmere.
Knowing Cruce was out on pre-trial release for an un-related offense, officers confirmed that a condition of that release was that he wear an ankle monitor. Oops.
Officers reviewed his ankle monitor activity and learned that he was not home in bed sleeping like he claimed when asked by officers who found him later, but breaking in to a business and stealing money from an innocent owner.
Just another story about how crime doesn’t pay, especially when you wear an ankle monitor during the commission of that crime.
