FED EX TRUCK CATCHES FIRE FOLLOWING CRASH

The turnpike was shut down in Martin County overnight because of a vehicle fire. A Fed Ex truck was involved in a crash around mile marker 123, and burst into flames near the center medium. Fire crews decided to let the truck burn itself out, because they were unaware of the contents of the packages in the truck. One person was injured, and the FHP is investigating the cause of the crash.

Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies, Martin County Fire Rescue, and Florida Highway Patrol were on scene of a crash. The Fed Ex truck carrying a number of packages burst into flames, prompting the closure of the north and soundbound lanes.

Because the contents of the packages inside the truck are unknown, fire rescue personnel are closely monitoring the blaze as it burns itself out. Firefighters will remained  on the scene through the evening. FHP will be investigating the cause of crash.
