FDOT Treasure Coast Traffic Impact Report

November 17 through November 24, 2017

TREASURE COAST – Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties are expected during the week of November 17 through November 24. In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, lane closures will be suspended Wednesday, November 22 through Sunday, November 26. Weather permitting, work will be done at the following locations throughout the Treasure Coast. For updated lane closure information, please refer to www.d4fdot.com. CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

MARTIN COUNTY

  1. Kanner Highway / State Road 76 from Lost River Road to south of Monterey Road

 

Traffic Impact:

  • The speed limit on Kanner Highway from Lost River Road to Indian Street has been reduced from 50 mph to 45 mph. The speed limit will remain at 45 mph after project completion.
  • One lane in either direction of Kanner Highway from Lost River Road to Martin County High School may be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for drainage work and roadway widening.
  • One lane in either direction of Kanner Highway from Lost River Road to Martin County High School may be closed intermittently Sunday throughTuesday night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for bridge and drainage work.
  • The sidewalk along the east side of Kanner Highway just south of the high school will be intermittently closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. with flagmen holding pedestrian traffic so construction vehicles can enter and exit the pond area.
  • The sidewalk along southbound Kanner Highway from Pomeroy Street to South River Drive is closed through December 2017 for drainage work. Pedestrians will be detoured to the northbound sidewalk along Kanner Highway at Indian Street and Pomeroy Street.

 

  1. I-95 Interchange at Kanner Highway (State Road 76 / Exit 101)

Traffic Impact:

  • All lanes are open through November 24.
  1. State Road 710 / Warfield Boulevard from east of Kanner Highway (State Road 76) to the Martin / Palm Beach County Line

 

Traffic Impact:

  • One lane in either direction of SR 710 may be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. through November 2017 for roadway widening. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
  1. I-95 Resurfacing Project from Indiantown Road to Bridge Road

 

Traffic Impact:

  • Two southbound lanes of I-95 from Indiantown Road to Bridge Road will be closed Sunday through Tuesday night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for paving.

 

  1. Kanner Highway (State Road 76) I-95 Interchange Landscape Improvements

Traffic Impact:

  • The shoulders at the I-95/Kanner Highway interchange may be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

 

  1. State Road A1A and Sewall’s Point Road Signalization Project

 

Traffic Impact:

  • The sidewalks at the intersection of A1A and Sewell’s Point Road may be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to install mast arm foundations. Detour signs are in place to direct pedestrians.

 

  1. NE Causeway Boulevard from Indian River Drive to State Road A1A in Jensen Beach

Traffic Impact:

  • The right turn lane from westbound NE Causeway Boulevard to northbound Indian River Drive will be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through June 2018 for construction.
  • The sidewalk along the north side of NW Causeway Boulevard is closed for building construction through June 2018. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the south side of the roadway.

 

  1. U.S. 1 at Johnson Avenue in Stuart

Traffic Impact:

  • One northbound lane of U.S. 1 will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. through December 22, 2017 to construct a new turn lane.
  1. U.S. 1 at Harper Street in Stuart

Traffic Impact:

  • One southbound lane of U.S. 1 will be closed Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for utility work.
  1. U.S. 1 just South of SE Dixie Highway in Hobe Sound

Traffic Impact:

  • One lane in both directions of U.S. 1 at the bridge over the Florida East Coast Railway tracks will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for maintenance work.
  1. Kanner Highway from Winnachee Drive to Monterey Road in Stuart

Traffic Impact:

  • One southbound lane of Kanner Highway will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for paving.
  1. State Road 710 / Warfield Boulevard at Amaryllis Ave in Indiantown

Traffic Impact:

  • The eastbound lane of State Road 710 will be closed Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for diesel spill cleanup. Two-way traffic will be maintained by a flag crew. 
  1. LUCIE COUNTY

 

  1. Indrio Road Widening Project in Fort Pierce

Traffic Impact:

  • The speed limit on Indrio Road between I-95 and Emerson Avenue has been reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph. The speed limit will remain at 45 mph after project completion.
  • One lane in either direction of Indrio Road may be closed Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for widening. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
  • One lane in either direction of Emerson Avenue may be closed Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for widening. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
  • One lane in either direction of Spanish Lakes Boulevard may be closed Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for construction. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
  • Johnston Road just north of Indrio Road is closed around-the-clock for road work through December 22, 2017. Motorists should detour via Oslo Road or Indrio Road to Emerson Avenue.

 

  • Advanced Notice: Beginning Tuesday, November 28, traffic in both directions of Indrio Road will be shifted north to the newly constructed roadway, maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction for roadway reconstruction on the south side. The stop bars at all intersections along Indrio Road will be adjusted to accommodate this traffic shift. Motorists will need to be alert and stop their vehicles at the new designated stop bar locations when approaching a red light.

 

  1. Midway Road Widening Project from S. 25th Street to U.S. 1

 

Traffic Impact:

  • One lane in either direction of Midway Road from 25th Street to U.S. 1 will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
  • One lane in either direction of Oleander Avenue from W. 1st Street to north of Midway Road will be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
  • One lane in either direction of Sunrise Boulevard from W. 1st Street to Augusta Street will be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
  • One lane in either direction of 25th Street north and south of Midway Road may be closed Monday and Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
  • The inside left turn lane from northbound U.S. 1 to westbound Midway Road is closed around-the-clock for widening.
  • The inside left turn lane from southbound U.S. 1 to eastbound Midway Road is closed around-the-clock for widening.
  • The right turn lane from eastbound Midway Road to southbound Oleander Avenue is closed around-the-clock for roadway widening. Eastbound motorists can turn south from the through lane.
  • The right turn lane from westbound Midway Road to northbound Oleander Avenue is closed around-the-clock for roadway widening. Westbound motorists can turn north from the through lane.
  • Drainage work underway along Melville Road from Midway Road to Brack Road will require five consecutive phases of full closures. These closures started at the south end near Brack Road and move north to Midway Road and are expected to be completed by November 21, 2017. Motorists should detour via Brack Road to Oleander Avenue or U.S. 1 to Ulrich Road. Residents and emergency services will have access to properties along Melville Road at all times.

 

  1. I-95 Bridge Deck Replacement Project at Glades Cut Off Road (County Road 709) and Ten Mile Creek

 

Traffic Impact:

  • The speed limit on northbound and southbound I-95 at the two overpass locations – Glades Cut Off Road overpass (MM 125) and Ten Mile Creek overpass just south of Okeechobee Road/Exit 129 – has been reduced from 70 mph to 60 mph.
  • The outside lane of northbound I-95 at Glades Cut Off Road overpass and Ten Mile Creek overpass is closed around-the-clock to prepare for an upcoming traffic shift.
  • The inside lane of southbound I-95 at Glades Cut Off Road overpass and Ten Mile Creek overpass is closed around-the-clock to prepare for an upcoming traffic shift.
  • Traffic may be reduced to one lane in either direction of I-95 at the Glades Cut Off Road overpass Sunday through Tuesday night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Traffic may be reduced to one lane in either direction of I-95 at the Ten Mile Creek overpass Sunday through Tuesday night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Northbound I-95 traffic at the Ten Mile Creek overpass is diverted west, using the southbound overpass, for bridge deck replacement. During this time, two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained at the bridge.

 

  1. McCarty Road North Bridge Replacement Project

Traffic Impact:

  • McCarty Road (County Road 712A) north bridge, from Twin Creeks Drive north for 0.12 miles, is closed around-the-clock through April 2018 to replace the bridge. During this time, motorists should detour via Okeechobee Road or Midway Road to Shinn Road.

 

 

  1. Peter P. Cobb Bridge (SR A1A) Rehabilitation and Observation Walk Replacement Project

Description: The Peter P. Cobb Bridge rehabilitation and observation walk replacement project over the Intracoastal Waterway in the City of Fort Pierce includes: replacing the existing observation walkways, installing scour countermeasures along the channel bottom under the bridge, and making repairs to deteriorated concrete on the bridge pier columns.

 

  1. U.S. 1 Signalization Upgrade Project

Description: The U.S. 1 signalization upgrade project from State Road 70 / Virginia Avenue to State Road A1A / Seaway Drive in the City of Ft. Pierce is underway. This 2.195-mile project will upgrade 11 signalized intersections along U.S. 1 by implementing Adaptive Signal Control Technology in which traffic signal timing changes based on daily (real-time management of traffic) traffic demand. This project also includes reconstruction at ADA curb ramp locations. Signalization will be upgraded at the following intersections: State 70 / Virginia Avenue, Ohio Avenue, Chipola Road / Parkway Avenue, Georgia Avenue, Delaware Avenue, Citrus Avenue, State Road 68 / Orange Avenue, Avenue A, Avenue C, Avenue D, and State Road A1A / Seaway Drive.

Cost/Completion: $932,300.48. Completion is expected in spring 2018.

Traffic Impact:

  • The auxiliary lanes at all signalized intersections along the project will be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to install video detection devices.

 

  1. U.S. 1 from Virginia Avenue to Ohio Avenue in Fort Pierce

Traffic Impact:

  • One lane in each direction of U.S. 1 will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. through November 2017 for median work and to install mast arms.

 

  1. U.S. 1 from LaBuona Vita Drive to Veterans Memorial Parkway in Port St. Lucie

Traffic Impact:

  • Advance Notice: Starting Monday, November 27, one southbound lane of U.S. 1 will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. through January 5 to build a temporary access road.

 

  1. State Road A1A from Florida Power and Light plant to Herman’s Bay Beach in Jensen Beach

Traffic Impact:

  • The northbound lane of State Road A1A will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. through November 2017 for utility work. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.

 

  1. State Road A1A from Windmill Village to Pepper Lane in Jensen Beach

Traffic Impact:

  • One lane in either direction of State Road A1A will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for road work and lighting. A flag crew will  maintain two-way traffic.

 

  1. Seaway Drive/State Road A1A from Indian River Drive to U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce

Traffic Impact:

  • One westbound lane of Seaway Drive will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for drainage and concrete work

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY

 

  1.  I-95 (SR 9) from just north of State Road 60 (Osceola Boulevard/Exit 147) at Vero Beach to the Indian River/Brevard County Line

 

Traffic Impact:

  • Motorists should be alert for slow moving construction vehicles entering and leaving the travel lanes.
  • The speed limit has been reduced to 60 mph in the work zone.
  • Lanes in each direction of I-95 may be closed periodically Sunday through Tuesday night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for construction.
  • Southbound I-95 traffic from MM 153 to MM 151.5 is shifted from the two outside lanes to the two inside lanes.
  • Beginning Monday night, November 20, southbound I-95 traffic at MM 151 will be shifted to the two inside lanes.
  • The westbound lanes of CR 512 at I-95 will be closed Friday night, November 17 for paving.
  • Beginning the week of November 20, northbound I-95 traffic will shift to the two outside lanes north of CR 512/Exit 156 for paving.
  • Northbound I-95 from MM 147 to MM 151 is shifted to the two inside lanes for paving.
  1. Central Railroad Corridor Greenway (CRCG) Pedestrian Overpass

Traffic Impact:

  • The shoulders along the I-95 northbound entrance ramp from County Road 512 may be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Daily closures will continue through February 2018.
  • The shoulders along the I-95 southbound exit ramp to County Road 512 may be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Daily closures will continue through February 2018.
  • The inside lane of southbound I-95 north of Fellsmere Road is closed around-the-clock through January 2018.
  1. 17th Street Shoulder Widening & Resurfacing.

Traffic Impact:

  • The outside lane of eastbound 17th Street from U.S. 1 to 6th Avenue is closed around the clock through January 2018 for shoulder widening.
  • The outside lane of westbound 17th Street from 6th Avenue to east of Indian River Boulevard is closed around the clock through January 2018 for shoulder widening.
  • The sidewalk along 17th Street from U.S. 1 to Indian River Boulevard may be closed intermittently for widening and utility work. Detour signs will be in place to direct pedestrians.
  • One lane in either direction of U.S. 1 at the 17th Street intersection may be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for curb construction.
  • One lane in either direction of Indian River Boulevard at the 17th Street intersection may be closed intermittently Monday and Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for curb construction.
