Fatal Crash in Fellsmere

Fatal Crash in Fellsmere.

From the Fellsmere Police Department: “Fellsmere area residents may have seen a flurry of emergency response vehicles through the city on CR 512 around 9:00 pm last evening as FPD, IRCSO, and IRFD responded to this crash scene north of the entrance to Sun Ag.

When Officers Matt Radock and Mike Ruiz arrived, they met with the driver near a locked gate that prohibited vehicular access to the crash site. All three then climbed the gate and ran approximately 100 yards to the submerged vehicle.

Officer Radock began CPR on Brian Null while Officer Ruiz cleared David Yarrington’s airway and placed him in the recovery position until EMS could access the crash site. Officer Ruiz then assisted FHP with their investigation.

After performing CPR for approximately one minute Officer Radock noticed that EMS arrived on scene. Knowing that an ambulance could not access the crash site, Officer Radock ran back to the gate with Brian in his arms and delivered him to medical personnel with the assistance of a Sun Ag employee who helped him over the gate. Once he delivered Brian to paramedics, he ran back to the crash scene.

A Fire crew from Station 10 in Fellsmere made it to the crash scene by the time Officer Radock returned and he and fire personnel traveled down the 8 foot embankment to pull Jeanie Yarrington from the water and deliver her to an ambulance.”

This remains an active investigation.

All personnel involved are to be commended for their actions at this horrific crash scene.
