VIM Fit Fest
VIM Fit Fest is a free community wellness event hosted by Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Clinic in partnership with the City of Stuart happening on Saturday October 23, 2021 from 7 to 11 am at Flagler Park in downtown Stuart. The event is intended to encourage, engage, and educate the community on services and activities available to improve personal health and wellness. It also provides valuable exposure for VIM Clinic to increase awareness of the Clinic and the free medical care available to Martin County residents who qualify. VIM Fit Fest will include a virtual component called VIM Fit Fest Quest, a 5K Color Run, and an in-person wellness fair featuring vendors and presentations from local health-related businesses and organizations.
VIM Fit Fest Quest
VIM Fit Fest Quest is a wellness scavenger hunt using an app for smart phones. The app allows players to accomplish different tasks (quests) and receive points to win a t-shirt and other prizes. Players can track their progress and see how well they are doing compared to other players. Quests will include activities like visiting a local park, answering questions about health, getting your blood pressure checked, visiting a fitness center, and many more.
VIM Fit Fest 5K Color Run
The in-person event will kick off with a 5K Color Run from Flagler Park through downtown Stuart ending back at Flagler Park. A color run involves running through stations along the race route where volunteers toss colored powder (corn starch and food coloring) onto the runner’s shirt as they pass by. By the end of the race, the runner has a colorful shirt, and often body, which makes for fun pictures and a celebratory feel to the event.
VIM Fit Fest Wellness Fair
The in-person wellness fair will feature up to 30 vendors based on COVID restrictions. This number may be expanded depending on future relaxation of restrictions. Business and organizations like health care providers (physical and mental), fitness instructors, health food stores and restaurants, and sports clubs will be invited to set up a table for free. The fair will take place from 8 am – 11 am and will also feature presentations for things like yoga, water safety, changing a bicycle tire, fitness bootcamp, and healthy cooking ideas.
