Painting with a Twist Fundraiser for Blue Star Mothers of America FL11
The Treasure Coast Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of American FL11 will be hosting a fundraiser on October 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Painting with a Twist, 3579 NW Federal Hwy, Jensen Beach, FL 34957. Blue Star Mothers are mothers of military, either active or veterans. The organization not only provides support for active duty service personnel, it promotes patriotism, assists Veterans organizations and is available to assist in homeland volunteer efforts to help our country remain strong. Some of their activities include packing boxes for deployed troops, honoring Gold Star families who have lost their loved ones in the line of duty and supporting our veterans through volunteerism at the VA Hospital, and local veterans’ facilities.
Blue Star Mothers of America was established on January 22, 1942 during WWII when Captain George Maines noticed that the morale of the troops needed a boost. He enlisted the help of 1000 military mothers who quickly answered the call of duty to support the troops. Mothers volunteered in hospitals, train stations, packed care packages for soldiers and were a working part of homeland security during time of war. The group was congressionally chartered in June of 1960.
