First Pres Orchestra presents Summer Series concert
The First Presbyterian Youth String Orchestra will present a Summer Series fundraiser concert on Thursday, July 25, at 7:00pm in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach. Admission is free; donations will be accepted during the performance.
Coming off their First Place with Superior Distinction win at the Music in the Parks Competition at Universal Studios in May, the students in the First Presbyterian String Orchestra just didn’t want to take a break for the summer. Jacob Craig, Director of Music and Arts at the church, has put together a wonderful Orchestral Summer Series at their request for them to include extra rehearsals on Thursdays from 11:30am-1:00pm (additional to the regular Sunday morning rehearsals), and it will all culminate in a fundraiser concert on Thursday, July 25, at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary. The works they have chosen are String Suite by Nielsen, Two Elegiac Melodies by Grieg, and the Holberg Suite by Grieg. Funds raised from the concert will go directly toward their mission trip to South Africa this fall.
The FPC Orchestra performs in the 11:00am service each Sunday (10:00am during the summer) at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach. During special performances, the String Orchestra is joined by professional wind and percussion musicians from around the Treasure Coast.
