Holy Faith Episcopal Church to hold its first Drive-in Church
Port St. Lucie, Florida-May 20, 2020-As churches around the country struggle to find safe ways to reopen, Holy Faith Episcopal Church in Port St. Lucie, Florida, has an innovative approach to bring members and the public to worship. The church’s first Drive-in service will be held on Sunday, May 31, to celebrate Pentecost and reopen for prayer.
“We have never done this kind of worship before,” says Fr. Orlando J. Addison, vicar of the Port St. Lucie’s congregation, and a local author, “we Episcopalians are very comfortable worshiping traditionally, you know, inside a church building. However, due to coronavirus, we have been forced to find new ways to worship, while observing social distancing.” He said the congregation is thrilled to introduce this new worship style to members and the public, after weeks of absence from the church building due to social isolation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.” Fr. Orlando also noted that the church intends to follow the CDC and the Diocese of Central Florida’s guidelines as people worship in their cars on the church campus.
Holy Faith will offer two worship services on Sunday, May 31, one at 9:00 am in English, the second at 11:00 am in Spanish.
Members and visitors are encouraged to drive into the parking lot where they will tune into a radio station in their vehicles. They are also encouraged to wear masks, observe social distancing, remain inside their cars, and to bring hand sanitizers.
The Drive-in Church worship is open to all public, both Christian and non-Christian.
