Enjoy evening on the waterfront, vote for park name at River Nights Oct. 12

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL –  Spend an evening soaking up the beautiful riverfront view, while having a bite to eat and listening to live music, at the first River Nights event of the season on Thursday, October 12.

The City of Port St. Lucie is bringing this event back on a monthly basis on the second Thursday of each month through April. This season, River Nights will be at the site of the City’s future riverfront park on the west side of Westmoreland Boulevard, south of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens. This is just south of Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

While attendees are enjoying the event from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., they will have an opportunity to vote on a new name for this future park.  This River Nights will kick off the second phase of the City’s naming campaign for the future park. Plans for this park include waterfront restaurants, historical structures, boardwalk and conservation land.

Since the beginning of August, residents were able to submit their name suggestions. The City received more than 600 submittals. A committee narrowed the name suggestions down to 10. Residents can now vote on their top pick from this list of 10 names.  City staff will be at River Nights with information about the future park and ballots for attendees to vote on their favorite name.

The public can vote through November at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/riverfrontparknaming.

The top five names with the most votes will be presented to the Port St. Lucie City Council in December, and the Council will select the official name.

Residents will be able to choose from these names:  Moonraker Park; Banyan Tree Park, Sgt. Gary Morales Memorial Park; Northfork Park; Riverwalk Landing; River’s Edge Park; St. Lucie Riverwalk Park; Westmoreland Landing; Treasure Coast Riverfront Park; Bella Rio Landing.  To learn more about this future park, please visit https://www.cityofpsl.com/cra.html.
