Elderly man accidentally drives into CVS in Port St. Lucie

Port St Lucie, Fl- PSL Police went to CVS (1300 SW St. Lucie Blvd, PSL) on March 13, 2019 for reports of a traffic crash. It involved a 2010 Silver Kia Sportage SUV that drove into the store front of CVS. The driver, an 82 year old PSL resident drove the front portion of his car into the main entry doors causing extensive damage. Although the store was occupied, no one inside of the store reported injuries. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police learned the driver was parking his car in a handicap space located by the store entrance, when he began shaking uncontrollably. Instead of placing his foot on the brake; he pressed down harder on the gas pedal causing the car to drive up over the sidewalk and into the storefront glass doors.

The front doors to the CVS store are in the process of being repaired.
