Early Voting Starts tomorrow in Martin County

Early Voting Starts tomorrow in Martin County.

The vote for the 1-percent sales tax in Martin County is less than two weeks away, but voters won’t even have to wait that long. Early voting is set to start tomorrow, and will run through August 26th. The county wants to add a 1-percent sales tax in addition to the 6-percent state sales tax. They say it would raise $230 million over 10 years to maintain roads and improve or replace aging public buildings.

At least 35-percent of the revenue would go towards water quality projects, like septic-to-sewer conversions. If it’s approved, a 6-percent surcharge on Florida Power and Light bills would be reduced down to half a percent.

Stuart voters will also get to decide on how will replace Jeffrey Krauskopf, who is retiring. They’ll choose between Becky Bruner, Tyler Green-James, and Ron Rose. Early voting will be held at the Supervisor of Elections office from 8am until 5pm.

Here is a list of proposed projects. On the bottom you can it includes money for a Public Safety Training Facility. We already have a state of the art facility in Ft Pierce.  Here is the Martin County BOCC Explanation. Here is the information regarding FPL.
