Dr. Lee Removes Cancerous Growth from HANDS Patient

Dr. Lee Removes Cancerous Growth from HANDS Patient.

Dr. S. Darrell Lee, a volunteer at the HANDS Clinic in Ft. Pierce recently removed a cancerous growth from the right shoulder of a 63-year old female patient, who did not have health insurance.  The patient came to the Clinic seeking help for the painful ulcerating lesion on her shoulder.

Dr. James Roberts performed a biopsy that identified the mass as a Basal Cell Carcinoma nodular and infiltrative patterns with carcinoma at deep and peripheral edges.  The patient was referred to Dr. Lee a Board Certified plastic surgeon who partners with the HAND’s Clinic.

Dr. Lee excised the lesion under local anesthesia in the office.  Dr. Anil Desai, a local pathologist, also donated his services to evaluate the specimen.  He confirmed the cancer was completely removed.  Dr. Lee then closed the defect.
