Don’t rob the Pizza Guy!

Last week, Deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office East Precinct responded to a citizen’s emergency 9-1-1 call reference an armed robbery. Deputies subsequently arrived at an apartment complex in the area of Skylark Avenue in Merritt Island relating to a pizza delivery driver who reported he was robbed at knife point while delivering a pizza. During the robbery, the suspect held the delivery driver at knife point while reaching into his pockets and taking his money prior to fleeing on foot. The initial investigation led Agents to believe an individual identified as 27-year-old David Poindexter could be the subject who committed the robbery, but were unable to positively identify him at the time.

The next day, December 7, 2016, East Precinct Deputies responded to the same area relating to another reported armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver. Upon arrival, Deputies learned a male matching the same description as the suspect who committed the robbery the previous day had robbed another delivery driver at knife point taking his wallet, money, and cellular telephone before fleeing the area. East Precinct General Crimes Agents responded to the scene and were able to locate a witness who positively identified Poindexter as the robbery suspect.

Agents then located and arrested Poindexter at a nearby residence. A search warrant was also served at the residence, which resulted in the recovery of the victim’s wallet and cellular telephone. In addition to the victim’s property being recovered, Agents also located the clothing worn by Poindexter during both robberies as well as a knife that was believed to have been used. Poindexter later confessed to both robberies and was transported to the Brevard County Jail with NO BOND.
