Delray Beach man wanted for felony domestic battery arrested in Stuart
Stuart, Fl- A Delray Beach man wanted for felony domestic battery and grand theft auto charges is in jail after a lengthy vehicle pursuit.
Stuart Police located the 2018 Chrysler van at US 1 and Jensen Beach Boulevard at 10 am on Saturday.
When the driver saw the patrol car, he veered the van towards Officer Heitfeld’s patrol car.
When Stuart Police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect sped up causing a pursuit to be initiated. St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Deputies and Port St. Lucie Police assisted as the chase entered their jurisdiction.
The chase continued on US 1 northbound. The driver, Lazaro Hernandez, finally stopped at the Savannah Club in St. Lucie County. Mr. Hernandez attempted to flee on foot to avoid capture without success.
Lazaro Hubert Hernandez was arrested and charged with grand theft auto and resisting a law enforcement officer with violence.
Additional charges will be added to include fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (a vehicle) on a law enforcement officer.
