Dead Puppy, Animals Found at Okeechobee Home

They were found at a home on NW 17th Ave. in Okeechobee and two people face animal cruelty charges after the discovery of a dead puppy, two dead raccoons and a malnourished dog.

Inside the residence there was trash on the floors, cockroaches and flies everywhere, several dirty diapers throughout the house and no functioning showers or toilets, according to the sheriff’s office.

The raccoons were in a cage inside an abandoned boat and the puppy was inside the laundry room lying behind a blue tub, the report stated. There was a severely malnourished dog chained to a tree.

Arrested were Emily Dreher, 23, and charged her with four counts of aggravated animal cruelty and Timothy Courson, 22, on two counts of aggravated animal cruelty.

Courson’s 17 month old was removed from the home.

Both have since bonded out of the Okeechobee County Jail.
