Covid-19: Martin County offers drive-through testing

 

Martin County, Fl (Treasurecoast.com) –

Commissioner Harold Jenkins reported Martin County  is in the process of issuing a local state of emergency. There will be a special meeting on Wed March 18 at 10 a.m. to get an update on all the local efforts for Covid-19.

 Dr.Fernando Petry, Chief Medical officer announced there are no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Martin or St. Lucie County at this time. There will be a drive-through testing site at Cleveland Clinic Martin north. This is by appointment only.  The testing will be only for people who meet the Florida Department of Health and CDC criteria.  Residents have to call  the nurse triage hotline 772-419-3360 before getting tested. The hotline will be open from 8 am to 5 p.m. If the person meets the criteria they will be given an appointment to go to the drive-through testing site. Testing results will be available in 3 to 5 days.  The people receiving these these tests will be asked to self quarantine until the test results come back. The outpatient entrance at Martin North has been designated the drive-through site.

Dr. Petry anticipates they will have drive-through testing at Martin South and Tradition by the end of the week.

He reiterated  not go to the ER for mild symptoms or to get tested. He his encouraging people with cough, shortness of breath, fever, and worsening signs and symptoms to go to the ER for assistance.
