Construction to shut down a section of Floresta Drive |

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2022, a section of Floresta Drive, from just north of SE Chapman Avenue to just north of SE Thanksgiving Avenue, will be closed for construction until 5 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022. The intersection of SE Thanksgiving Avenue is included in the closure. The roadway will remain closed 24 hours a day. If the work is completed earlier, the road will be reopened as soon as possible.
The closure is necessary for crews to safely construct islands, curbs and a roundabout at Thanksgiving Avenue as part of the Floresta Drive Phase 1 Improvement Project. Crews are working during St. Lucie County School District’s spring break to help minimize impacts to residents, school buses and other school-related traffic.Motorists are asked to use appropriate detours while this work is taking place. Detours will re-direct southbound motorists to Thornhill Drive to Airoso Boulevard and then to Port St. Lucie Boulevard. Floresta Drive south of Thornhill Drive will be closed to through traffic and open only to local traffic for residents with driveways on Floresta Drive. Northbound motorists will be directed to use Port St. Lucie Boulevard to Airoso Boulevard and then to Thornhill Drive.
Once the work is completed, the road will re-open to traffic in the new final configuration, utilizing the new roundabout at SE Thanksgiving Avenue.The City urges drivers to be vigilant and patient while using the detours. Look for signs and other indicators of construction, such as cones or barrels, and slow down or come to a complete stop, if required. Motorists can expect delays. Before making travel plans, take time to research alternate routes when possible. Weather and other unforeseen circumstances could impact construction schedules and activities.
