City of PSL residents can use new interactive map for storm-debris collection updates

City of PSL residents can use new interactive map for storm-debris collection updates.

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Residents can now get daily updates on the progress of storm debris collection in the City through a new, easy-to-use interactive map.

The City today posted a Hurricane Irma Debris map to its website at www.cityofpsl.com/debris where residents can receive daily updates on the percentage of debris that has been collected and the amount still left to be picked up throughout Port St. Lucie.  The map divides the City into 14 zones. Residents can search by address or zoom in to see the progress made on streets throughout each zone.

The debris map, along with a helpful how-to video explaining how to use features of the map, also can be accessed at www.cityofpsl.com/irma.

Port St. Lucie’s Public Works Department is overseeing the City’s storm cleanup efforts. All storm-related vegetative debris will be picked up by the City’s emergency debris removal contractor during the next several weeks. The City would like to remind residents not to place these debris piles near fire hydrants, electrical poles, mailboxes, on driveways or near guy wires/tension cables that support utility poles. Placing debris piles next to these structures will result in delayed collection.

Twelve crews are now working to collect the piles of vegetative debris throughout the City. The City’s goal is to collect all the storm-related vegetative debris within the next 30 days.

in order for crews to access private roadways to collect storm-related debris Hoas must submit a signed “right of entry” agreement with the City.  HOA representatives who have questions about that process can call the debris management hotline at 772-529-0934.

In addition, the City is asking residents to assist with the cleanup effort by:

  • Piling their storm generated debris by the street.

    • Please be advised that the emergency debris contractor utilizes clam trucks, which cannot collect containerized or bagged debris.
    • Smaller debris can be placed in bags or trash cans to be collected by Waste Pro.
  • Separating yard waste from all other storm-generated debris, such as fence and construction materials.

    • Please do not mix vegetative debris with non-vegetative debris.
  • Putting out your household garbage and recycling per your normal schedule.

    • Household garbage and recycling will be collected by Waste Pro, NOT the debris collection contractor.
  • The City would like to remind residents that City Code prohibits the open burning of trash and garbage, building materials and similar items.

All questions regarding storm debris collection should be directed to the debris hotline at 772-529-0934 or by email to psldebris2017@gmail.com.
