City of Fort Pierce Announces Public Art Opportunities

The City of Fort Pierce Grants Administration Division is kicking off the City’s Mural Program with the release of Informal Bid #2018-020 that provides an opportunity for local artists and arts organizations to submit ideas for five (5) colorful murals to be painted at various properties within the City limits.

Ideas for murals include trompe-l’œil – 3-D optical illusion or typical murals resembling vibrant urban street scenes, musical, cultural or historical scenes or events, and nature scenes. Positive, cheerful viewpoints of unity are encouraged.

Each individual mural project will include a stipend ranging from $2,000-$5,000 and reimbursement for materials and insurance up to $1,000.

A Mural Selection Committee will make the preliminary selections of the murals. The individual property owners will make the final selections.

The Mural Program is part of the City of Fort Pierce’s “Creative Placemaking” initiative. Creative Placemaking is the use of arts and culture to strategically shape the physical and social character of a place to increase civic pride, spur economic development and tourism and improve the overall physical environment.

Interested parties should email biddesk@city-ftpierce.com or call 772-467-3748 to have copies of the five Call to Artists and the Ideas for Murals packet emailed or mailed to them.  The deadline to respond to this Informal Bid is 3:00pm on Friday, May 4, 2018
