Catch Archery Fever at the Oxbow Nov. 14-17

PORT ST. LUCIE – From Robin Hood to the Hunger Games to the International and Para-Olympics, archery is quickly gaining momentum across the nation. It’s a sport that has a lot to offer, too. Youth leaders, teachers, people with physical challenges, retirees, and veterans are catching the archery fever because of its strength and confidence building qualities, and the opportunity to use the sport to develop leadership skills in both youth and adults.

Now is your chance to bring archery to your school and youth groups. The Oxbow Eco-Center, Archery Trade Association and the Florida Archery Foundation are hosting the Archery Academy, a four-day certification and training workshop Nov. 14-17. The cost for the complete workshop is just $95 (more than a $500 value). Participants can choose to attend specific portions of the workshop at a reduced cost. They can also  go all in for high level intensive training and walk away with confidence as an archery instructor and coach.

Days 1 and 2

include Level II Instructor and 3-D archery certifications. Level II Instructors are able to train and certify Level I Archery Instructors who can then become part of your team to lead archery classes. The cost for participating in the certification portion of the workshop is $65. No previous experience is required.

Day 3 includes Explore Bowfishing and Explore Bowhunting training, educational curriculum that can be added to classroom, after school, summer camp and other youth activities. This training includes a comprehensive teacher’s guide, student handbooks and dozens of hands-on activity ideas to integrate into learning programs. Explore is designed to teach students how to feel comfortable in the outdoors. Whether the goal is to bowhunt, bowfish, photograph wildlife, or interact with nature for any purpose. Day 4 is filled with tips and insight into coaching skills, equipment maintenance, and creating clubs and tournaments. Cost for participating in days three and four is $55.
