Carjacking Suspect injured mini-van owner, stole his vehicle and then captured by MCSO

Victim used his IPhone tracker to give deputies an idea of where the van was headed.

A Ft. Lauderdale woman who attacked a man, then stole his mini-van, was captured by Martin County Deputies on I-95 in Hobe Sound.

The victim told deputies that 36-year old Natasha Llera approached him just after 10 p.m. as he was standing outside of his home in Jupiter. Llera told him she was stranded and needed gas money. When the victim refused to give her money, Llera became violent.  She then jumped into his mini-van and took off. The victim, whose cell phone was still in the vehicle, used his IPhone tracker to give deputies an idea of where the van was headed.

A short time later, Martin County Sheriff’s 100-Shift Sergeant Timothy Baltes spotted the stolen van traveling northbound on I-95 near mile-marker 89. He then followed Llera as other deputies set-up on the interstate. Sergeant Baltes attempted a traffic stop, but Llera refused to pull over. Sergeant Baltes then performed a pursuit intervention technique, disabling the van in the center median. Deputies immediately took Llera into custody. She was taken to the Martin County Jail and charged with carjacking, fleeing and eluding, and driving without a valid DL. Her bond is $42,500.

The victim in this case suffered minor scrapes and cuts from the attack
