Body discovered near Port Mayaca ruled a homicide

Martin County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- A body that was discovered near Port Mayaca has been ruled a homicide.

The  body found Jan. 26 in Port Mayaca Park was identified as a 25-year-old Port St. Lucie man. 

The medical examiner’s office ruled Sean Francis Budge’s death a homicide, according to Martin County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Laurie Weber.

Officials would not release the autopsy,saying it is still part of an active investigation. 

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident, sheriff’s officials said. 

Budge was found by Thomas Chesnes, a biology professor at Palm Beach Atlantic University and one of Chesnes’ students. 

No further information was available Monday.
