Blind Creek Beach

Located on the Treasure Coast, Blind Creek Beach is a clothing-optional beach in St. Lucie County. The shoreline is on Hutchinson Island, with a broad, sandy stretch. For years, nude sunbathers had been coming to Blind Creek Beach, and in 2016, it became officially allowed for nudists to be on the beach. In 2020, the County Commission recognized it as a nude beach.

While it is technically clothing-optional, visitors to Blind Creek Beach can wear as much or as little as they prefer.

The beach, in the town of Fort Pierce, stretches for eight miles, and there’s a total of 36 acres of clothing-optional space.

The water is warm and clear, so the area is popular for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. The beach is a nesting area for both loggerhead and green sea turtles. It rarely gets crowded, there’s a lot of space to spread out, and visitors of all ages are welcome. The beach is on the Atlantic Coast, making it a favorite for surf fishing. You can bring your own gear for fishing or rent it from the shop nearby.

Beachcombing is another popular activity at Blind Creek Beach because of the clear water and white sand that’s often a location for shells and sea treasures to be spotted. You can walk or jog since the beach is on a wide stretch of sand.

Admission to Blind Creek Beach is free, as is parking. Lifeguards are not on duty, and it is a public beach. There are limited facilities, which include a picnic shelter and a nature trail. There’s also an observation tower for panoramic views. St. Lucie County announced there will soon be restrooms at the beach that meet the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, replacing porta-potties. The dirt parking lot is also set to be paved.

Rules at Blind Creek Beach include no sexual activity, and visitors are expected to respect one another. Pets aren’t allowed at the beach, nor are glass containers. There is a pack it in, pack it out expectation, meaning visitors remove their trash from the beach. Visitors should be aware of their surroundings at all times, especially the rip currents, since no lifeguard is on duty.

There are a lot of natural attractions near Blind Creek Beach in Fort Pierce. For example, just a few miles north of Blind Creek Beach is Fort Pierce Inlet State Park, with outdoor activities including swimming and fishing, picnicking, hiking, and birdwatching. St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park is a few miles to the south of Blind Creek Beach, with a diverse ecosystem, and the Manatee Observation and Education Center is a few miles to the north.

Blind Creek Beach is considered secluded and not widely known or used by the general public, so there aren’t a lot of restaurant options nearby, but there are a few casual and fast food options. 

Visitors to Blind Creek Beach are asked not to behave in a lewd way, to respect the rights of others, to avoid disturbing wildlife, especially sea turtles, and to avoid swimming alone if possible.
