SCAM ALERT: Jury duty and imposter scams in IRC

Beware of FPUA scam

Many businesses in Fort Pierce have fallen victim to a telephone scam involving the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority. The scammers claim to be from FPUA, and demand payment. They also threaten the business or residents utilities will be shut off. The scammers request the business or resident make a payment using a prepaid card. According to Fort Pierce Police, the criminals are cloning a number from FPUA. If you receive a message like this call FPUA directly at 772-466-1600. Please do not pay any bill over the phone before contacting the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority directly. Remember to report the incident to local authorities.
