Bandits target local churches in Ft Pierce.

Police say bandits are burglarizing numerous churches in the city. The crooks have made off with thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment. Lirio De Los Valles Church leaders says they can’t believe their holy site was targeted. Keyla Gusman, celebrated the 2nd anniversary of her Fort Pierce Church, Lirio de los Valles on Saturday. Sunday, she and her Pastor, Jose Rubia walked into church and discovered thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment missing.

The pastor’s personal office also ransacked. Hundreds of dollars snatched. Gusman and Rubia believe the thieves broke in through a small window in the bathroom, which is now boarded up. The quaint church has 25 members, and collects around $200 a week in offerings. The pastor estimates the burglars stole $4,000 worth of equipment.

 Computers, musical instruments and other valuable items, has been taken from at least three churches that have been broken into within the past five days. The first burglary was reported about 6:40 p.m. Thursday at 1810 Orange Ave., Cunningham said. The second one was reported about 1:10 p.m. Friday at 105 N. 15th St. The third one was reported about 8:50 a.m. Monday at 311 N. 25th St.
