Arrest in PSL animal cruelty case

Port St Lucie, Fla- On December 1, 2017, Port St. Lucie Police Detectives arrested 29 year old Christina Ashton Hand pursuant to outstanding warrants on 5 counts of animal cruelty.

On November 26, 2017 at around 6:20 pm, PSLPD went to the 4900 block of NW Ever Road for reports that multiple dogs have been left in an abandoned home. Once on scene officers saw three Pit Bulls in poor condition staring out of the windows of the home. Police made entry into the home and discovered two more dogs, which appeared to be very ill and extremely emaciated.

According to Staci-Lee Sherwood the rescue was a fraud. They had a fundraising page and raised several thousand but never used it for the animals. They left several dogs abandoned before they left for the Tampa area.
