Area of low pressure in southern gulf has 80% chance of development
An area of low pressure in the southern Gulf of Mexico now has a 70 percent chance of development. There’s a pretty good chance we could see Tropical or Subtropical Storm Nestor on Thursday. This system is traveling northeast, but its final destination is still a little unclear. Some computer models have it moving into the Florida Panhandle Saturday morning and then across Georgia and the Carolinas.
If that happens, South Florida could see some heavy rainfall and a few strong storms on Saturday afternoon.Other models have it moving up into or closer to Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. If that happens, we will see less rainfall. No models have it moving across South Florida. Hurricane hunter crews will most likely go check it out later Thursday.
