Alarming number of Treasure Coast homes could be underwater by end of century

A recent study by website Zillow dot com found an alarming number of homes on the Treasure Coast could be underwater by the end of the century.

Zillow used data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This helped them  to determine how many houses would be underwater if sea levels rise 6 feet.

Based on their numbers, nearly two-thirds of homes on South Hutchinson island would be underwater. In unincorporated St Lucie County over 60-percent of the homes would also be gone.

Martin County and other local governments are starting to take action now. They need to try and save these homes, before it’s too late.
