Aerial photos of St Lucie Inlet as it gets destroyed. More Water on the Way.
This just in from Jacqui Thurlow-Lippisch, Sewall’s Point commissioner:
“Confluence of SLR/IRL at/near Sewall’s Point on its way through St Lucie Inlet. —photos taken by Ed Lippisch 2-4-16 at 5:30 PM. ACOE/SFWMD began releasing lower levels of lake water January 30th–these photos show effects from these releases. Unfortunately but not unexpectedly, today ACOE sent press release stating they will open gates from Lake O to SLR/IRL to full capacity.
More water is on the way. The SLR will be wiped out. Until lands are purchased south of the lake this situation will never begin to change. The EAA is blocking the water. Yes there are other things that can be done to help, however to truly change this carnage, massive amounts of this water must go south to the Everglades as is designed by Nature to do.
Also the canals c23,c24 and C 25 are not all local run-off but contain significant amounts of water that would have drained somewhere else. This must be addressed as well.”
Thank you Jacqui and Ed for all you do for us, the St Lucie River and the Indian River Lagoon.
