ACOE casting doubts on proposed reservoir as algae moves in St Lucie River

Algae has been spotted in the St Lucie River in Palm City.(No photos yet hopefully today.)

Here is video of gross white foam shot by Brandon Berry at the C24 Boat Ramp. Southbend.

Talk about timing!   The Army Corp of Engineers is casting doubt on the proposed reservoir that would hold water south of Lake Okeechobee before sending it to the Everglades. The corp did say the design was quote “feasible”, but said it may not meet the goal of cleaning water before sending it to the Everglades. The Corp also said the plan doesn’t meet their safety requirements, and may be more expensive than estimated.

Still, Congressman Brian Mast said the important thing is that the plan has been approved and can move forward while the issues are worked out.

SFWMD you got a lot of splannin to do! (Everyone insisted it was not big enough. SFWMD said it would work.  Why in the world were they not working together?

Here is Congressman Brian Mast on June 7. He is right. The ACOE dump on us and then walk away.

Yesterday Tim Canova and Chris King spoke up. Thank you both.

We still have crickets from our local Martin, St Lucie, Stuart, Port St Lucie, Mary Lynn Magar, Gayle Harrel etc have nothing to say.

Our government has failed us. These discharges are unacceptable to us. Our local politicians have failed us. SFWMD have failed us. ACOE has failed us.

I call BS.
