A grant for Stuart Community Concert Band
The Stuart Community Concert Band was selected to receive a $2,500 grant from Women Supporting the Arts. This is a program of the Foundation of Martin County. The funds will be used to purchase percussion instruments to strengthen its performing arts organization.
The mission of the Stuart Community Concert Band is to provide an opportunity for volunteer musicians to develop their musical skills. It showcases their musical abilities by performing band music for the community.
“This grant will allow us to attract percussionists to our organization and will allow us to play musical literature for our audiences that we have been unable to perform in the past because of inadequate percussion equipment,” said Jim LeBon, director of the Band. “We feel very fortunate to have this funding from the Women Supporting the Arts and the Arts Foundation of Martin County and look forward to making beautiful music with their support.”
Women Supporting the Arts’ mission is to build a community of women philanthropists. Their mission is to inspire, educate and strengthen the arts and cultural environment of Martin County. Since 2004, more than $280,000 in grants has been awarded to arts and arts-related programs.
The Stuart Community Concert Band is a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization of dedicated volunteer musicians who play for the love of music. The Band performs for many holiday and community celebrations. They are also available for private functions.
