45-Year-Old Woman Arrested for December 2021 Fatal Hit and Run Crash

PSLPD Traffic Homicide Investigators obtained an arrest warrant Monday for 45-year-old, Kirsten Nance of Port St. Lucie, for the fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred in December 2021. Nance was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail and charged with 1 count of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.

Investigation revealed that on December 17th, 2021, at 10:08pm, PSLPD responded to SW Crosstown Pkwy/Commerce Centre Dr for a 911 call regarding a passerby that had observed a pedestrian in the median. The 54-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle traveling east on SW Crosstown Pkwy and was pronounced deceased on scene. The vehicle did not remain on scene. The 54-year-old victim was identified as Alexis Curbelo and it is believed he was homeless.

On December 18th, Nance came to the Port St. Lucie Police Department after hearing about the hit and run. She reported to Traffic Homicide Investigators that she hit an unknown object with her vehicle on her way home the night before, which shattered her windshield. Nance continued to her residence and did not call 911 at the time. Officers went to Nance’s residence and recovered the vehicle involved in the fatal hit and run. Since December, Traffic Homicide Investigators have been thoroughly investigating the incident and obtained the arrest warrant yesterday for Nance.
