Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- The Port St. Lucie Police is reporting that a 4-year old boy has drowned in the community pool at Newport Isles.

This is what they said:

“On March 15, 2022, at 5:44pm, the Port St. Lucie Police Department responded to the Newport Isles residential community pool in reference to a drowning. Newport Isles is located in the 1800-Blk of SW Gatlin Blvd.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 4-year-old child was at the community pool when a family member observed the child under water. The child was taken out of the water and CPR was immediately started until PSLPD Officers arrived on scene and took over lifesaving measures. The St. Lucie County Fire District continued life saving measures and transported the child to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this extremely difficult time. A PSLPD victim’s advocate and chaplain responded to the scene to provide resources to the family. PSLPD activated critical incident stress management protocols to ensure first responding officers have the necessary resources to cope with the incident. The investigation continues at this time.”
