 3 dead, 7-year-old injured in Indian River Crash

Indian River, Fl  (treasurecoast.com)  – 3 people are dead and 7 year old is injured in an Indian River Crash.

Florida Highway Patrol officials responded to a crash on U.S. 1, north of Olso Road, in Indian River County Saturday morning.

A driver was traveling northbound in a black Kia Sedan on the outside lane of U.S 1 around 10 a.m. along with two elderly passengers from Fort Pierce.

A southbound Dodge van, also with two passengers including a seven-year-old, was turning left into the Publix shopping plaza when it collided with the Kia Sedan.

One passenger from the Dodge van, a 58-year-old Vero Beach man, was transported to the Vero Beach hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

The 7-year-old was flown to St. Mary’s and is now in stable condition. The driver was seriously hurt and is currently at the hospital.

The two Fort Pierce passengers from the northbound Kia Sedan, a 93-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman also succumbed to their injuries. The driver in the Kia Sedan was seriously hurt and is at the hospital.

Officials say the crash is still pending investigation.
