2 Treasure Coast nursing homes flagged for serious ongoing health, safety or sanitary problems

Treasure Coast, Fl- A senate report released last week shows that two Treasure Coast nursing homes are among 400 nationwide found by inspectors to have serious ongoing health, safety, or sanitary problems.

Fort Pierce Health Care has an overall score of two out of five rating, but a one of five when it comes to health inspections. During the last health inspection in July, Fort Pierce Health Care had 18 citations. That’s compared to an average of six citations in the state of Florida. Most citations were in the category of quality of life and care deficiencies. All issues were since corrected. The facility had nine complaints in the last three years that resulted in citations.

Palm Garden of Vero Beach has a score of one of five overall rating and a one of five rating for health inspections. During the last health inspection in November, Palm Garden of Vero Beach had 23 citations. Most citations were in the category of quality of life and care deficiencies and resident rights deficiencies. All issues were corrected. The facility had 17 complaints in the last three years that resulted in citations.
