19-year-old PSL man arrested on robbery-by sudden snatching and battery

Port St. Lucie, Fl– On August 5, 2019, police arrested Zachary Bryant Brockington on charges of robbery by sudden snatching for taking money by force from the victim’s person, with intent to permanently deprive the victim.  Zachary was also charged with simple battery for punching the victim on the face and head. The incident occurred behind the Cumberland Farms (1548 SE Floresta Drive).

During the investigation police learned the victim left the plaza where he had purchased some food and as the victim walked behind the Cumberland Farms, an unknown black male (later identified as Zachary Brockington) approached the victim asking for a quarter. As the victim reached into his pocket for a quarter, he was punched in the face. The victim fell to the ground and Zachary then reached into the victim’s pocket, stole his money and took off running.  While running Zachary’s shoes came off. The shoes were later used by police as a scent article for the K-9 track which was successful.  Zachary was in a wooded lot located at the 700 block of SE Lighthouse Avenue. Zachary was not wearing any shoes. A search of Zachary’s pockets revealed he was in possession of the victim’s money ($932.00), which was later returned to the victim.

A show up with the victim confirmed Zachary Brockington was the suspect. Zachary Brockington was arrested on scene and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail on the above listed charges. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
