130 new laws are taking effect today and one of those laws will be welcome news for anyone who’s even been caught in a speed trap.
It is now illegal for police and deputies to have to meet any sort of ticket quota. State Representative Rob Bradley says officers should never be put in position where they have a financial incentive to write traffic tickets for the officers
Bradley’s Senate district in northeast Florida contains three towns that were notorious speed traps: Waldo, Hampton and Lawtey. It was so bad that the Auto club had to warn drivers to steer clear.
And another new law goes into effect in Florida today providing a penalty of up to 60 days in jail for anyone who tries to sneak his or her pet into a restaurant or other public place by falsely claiming it’s a service animal.
