Treasure Coast Movie Reviews: Bad Moms

Bad Moms is a 2016 American comedy film written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Jay Hernandez, Annie Mumolo, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Christina Applegate.

Amy Mitchell (Mila Kunis) is a married woman with two children, Jane (Oona Laurence) and Dylan (Emjay Anthony), who feels overworked and overcommitted. She works as a sales rep for a “hip” coffee company, prepares healthful, handpacked lunches for her children, does much of their homework, goes to all of their extracurricular activities, and is active in her school’s PTA, run by the domineering Gwendolyn James (Christina Applegate) and her cronies, Stacy (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Vicky (Annie Mumolo). When she catches her husband Mike (David Walton) cheating on her with a nude hooker via the internet Amy kicks him out and attempts to keep everything together.

After an extraordinary bad day Amy quits and goes to a bar where she makes two new friends and gets really drunk. It gets better from there.

Bad Mom’s boasts a fabulous cast and make sure you wait for the end when the main actresses are sitting with their own moms.

This is not a film you watch with your kids. It’s not even a film your husband will like. Even when your older than the targeted demographic you remember the days when you tried to do it all. Most of all it bring some great laughs and that’s what we need at the end of the day.

I’m a big fan of Mila Kunis since she was on the 70’s show and also Christina Applegate from Married with Children.

Here is a compilation of some funny moments. Some profanity so be forewarned. At about 2:18 is the funniest scene when Gwendolyn  calls an emergency meeting of PTA and it ends up being a discussion of the bake said and she goes through a list of every ingredient you would use to bake something and nix’s it. As an aunt to my very healthy sister’s children this scene had me hysterics as it was almost a true scene from trying to decide where to go eat and settling on Whole foods so my nieces could get the organic, no sugar, no salt, no soy etc experience that every kid wants when on vacation in Florida. We moms can all see a little of ourselves in this film.

I’d have a hard time being a mom today. I’m looking forward to movie called Bad Nanas. Here is an idea for a scene. The Nana gives the kids a night and say’s she will baby sit. The mom says “No Milk and no tv.” The parents leave. The next scene we see Nana and the grand kids drinking milk and watch Star Wars. Cut to kids on their night out. “Maybe we should call your Mom and see how everything is.” The wife says to the husband to which he retorts “I’m sure she’s fine.” cut to husband when he was a kid drinking milk and watching star wars. Someone could do this. It’s a whole demographic.

Here’s the trailer for Bad Moms. Jon Lucas and Scott Moore you can call me for treatment for Bad Nanas.
