Three heros honored by SLC Fire district

St. Lucie County Fire District ,Fire Chief Buddy Emerson and the Fire Board of Commissioners honored Pablo Toledo with a Citizen Hero Award at today’s meeting. They  recognized  11-year old Jeremiah and his brother, 9-year old Malachi with Honorary First Responder Awards.

Two boys from Port St Lucie who saved their mother’s life last month were deemed honorary first responders by the St Lucie County Fire District yesterday.

They weren’t the only local heroes honored yesterday. A man was recognized for saving a woman from a fiery crash last month. 31-year old Carl Philbert deliberately drove his car into a Fort Pierce apartment complex on July 4th. Police said he was targeting a woman and his car was loaded with propane tanks. He perished in the crash, but no one else was hurt. A neighbor caught the whole crash on camera, including her husband saving a woman’s life. That woman is 70-year-old Bonnie Leigh Henley, who was in her apartment on the second floor of the building. Henley’s daughter screamed for help and Pablo Toledo, a neighbor, came running up the stairs. Toledo carried her down the stairs and to the safety of the parking lot. Yesterday he was given a Citizen Hero Award for saving Henley’s life.
