Threats of suicide call leaves one dead in officer involved shooting

At approximately 8:00 PM this evening, deputies from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 600 block of Carriage Lake Way, Vero Beach.  A  9-1-1 caller advised of a person threatening suicide. While on scene, one deputy discharged their weapon leaving one person dead. No deputies were injured during this event. The 19th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office is on scene along with detectives from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. They are currently seeking a search warrant for the residence to recover evidence in the investigation. The deputy was placed on administrative leave, which is standard practice for deadly force incidents. No further details are available at this time, due to the ongoing investigation. Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar will provide more information at a media conference tomorrow, July 27, at 11:00 AM in the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office auditorium.
