Stuart PD arrests man who left small children in car.
Stuart Police arrested a man they are accusing of leaving 2 small children in a car for hours.
The Stuart PD tweeted Thursday evening that they had arrested Alain Latortue for the child abuse.
According to police, the vehicle was left running with the two children, ages 4 and 5, from noon to 3:45 in the afternoon. Police say they had no food or water inside and only a rear window was open. The car’s AC was apparently running but it was only blowing warm air. Police say the children were “soaked in sweat” and one had soiled their clothes.
Latortue told police he wasn’t allowed to have children with him at his work, and that he was checking on them occasionally.
The children were checked for heat exposure. Police say they are okay and with a caring adult.
